It is an excellent film-forming agent for polymer latex with high hydrolytic stability and can be used in many different kinds of emulsions, including acrylic emulsions with high pH value.
When TEXANOL ?is added to the latex paint, it is absorbed by the polymer latex particles and softens the latex particles so that they can be fused during the drying process of the paint film.
TEXANOL ?is not in the aqueous phase because it is insoluble in water.
When the paint is applied to a porous substrate, TEXANOL ?does not reduce the film-forming effect because it is not absorbed with water.
The concentration of coalescence auxiliaries needed to achieve the best performance of latex paint mainly depends on the lowest film-forming temperature of latex polymers. Hard polymers need more coalescence auxiliaries than soft polymers to achieve the same coalescence effect.
When trying out latex paints, the concentration of TEXANOL ?ester alcohols should start from 5% to 10%, depending on the weight of the latex polymer solids.
