Cast Iron Construction

LEADWELL uses only top quality well-ribbed castings. FiniteElement Analysis (FEA) is used on each new casting to determine thesize and location of all internal ribs ensuringhigh?torsional?stiffness andminimum vibration. The cast iron base, cross slide, headstock,slide, & tailstock have over 10 times the dampening capacity ofthose made from steel resulting in superior cuttingperformance.

Headstock

Theheadstock is a thermally symmetric design with heat dissipatingfins. This design prevents thermal distortion during long machiningcycles.

Easy Chip Disposal

TheT / LTC Series slant bed design allows chips to fall directly intothe chip tank avoiding accumulation inside the machine. The chiptank has large wheels making it easy to move for chip removal andcleaning.

Cartridge Type Spindle

LEADWELL produces a superior spindle. Built with highprecision P4 grade bearings, the one-piece cartridge ensuresprecise alignment for smooth run-out free operation. The massiveheadstock, rigid spindle, and superior bearing design, along withhigh RPM, facilitate heavy stock removal and precisiontolerances.

Boththe headstock and spindles are machined in a temperature-controlledenvironment is assembled in a clean room.

Machine Enclosure

Themachine is fully enclosed with splashguards and way covers. CEapproved guarding option includes tempered glass in the operatorwindow.

Double Nut Ball Screws

LEADWELL uses only premium quality preloaded double-nutball screws. On the T / LTC Series machines each ball screw isaccurately aligned parallel to the guide ways and anchored at bothends. They are then pre-tensioned to improve machine stiffness. Therotational torque variation is inspected to guarantee anon-binding, highly accurate, and long running components. Withthis design the T-Series can exceed customer requirements foraccuracy and maximum life.

High Speed Linear Motion Guides (TSeries)

Allservo motor driven axes are mounted on precision linear bearings,which ride on hardened steel ways. Theseprecision?guideways?requireno adjustment, and the servo motors consume less power.With?Leadwell's?linear motionguides X-Axis can reach a speed of 20 m/min (787?ipm) and Z axis up to 24 m/min (945ipm).

Tailstock (Option)

Theheavy-duty tailstock is attached to the lower guide of the machinebase. The heavy casting, large diameter quill, and precision Morsetaper center provide outstanding rigidity. In addition, the quilladjustment is hydraulic adding to the rigidity of the machine.*Optional programmable Tailstocks available on all models.*Optional rotary tailstocks available on all models.

Tool Setter (Option)

Theautomatic tool setter is an option on T / LTC Series machines. Thistool setter has a touch sensor that can measure varying toollengths and detect broken tools. It can be easily programmed tostore all the tool information to reduce tool-changingtime.
